FLOYD “MONEY” MAYWEATHER & ROBERT “THE GHOST” GUERRERO (OFFICIAL 1ST MEETING)
SATURDAY MAY 4,2013 (SHOWTIME PPV) (MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS,NEVADA)
Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0)
Mayweather, the pound-for-pound king, owns a junior middleweight and welterweight title. He will defend his welterweight crown against interim titlist Robert Guerrero (31-1-1) in an interesting fight that could be one of Mayweather’s toughest tests. The bout kicks off Mayweather’s new 30-month, six-fight deal with Showtime/CBS that could be worth some $200 million.
Robert Guerrero (31-1-1)
Slated for the biggest fight of his career against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0), Guerrero left his Las Vegas training camp to spend a few days on the East Coast in late March to make various promotional appearances. He probably didn’t think he’d wind up appearing in a New York court, but that happened after he got arrested for trying to bring a gun on board his flight back to Las Vegas. The Showtime PPV fight will go on as planned, but Guerrero faces felony charges and is scheduled for his next court date on May 14. How can this not take a mental toll on him going into the fight?
